Many Beagles find themselves lost and far away from their homes, and this happens for many reasons. Commonly a lost dog is the result of lack of supervision, because Beagles often run away from their owners. However, mistreatment also rates high in the percentage of reasons for runaways. Some species exhibit deviant behavior and owners abandon them, not being able to bridle their raging little things.
Rescue clubs are non-profit communities of dog-lovers, whose mission is finding, treating and adopting out rescued dogs. They work closely with kennel clubs and use the same methods of scanning potential adopters as those used by breeders in relation to future buyers. Rescue specialists are no less concerned about the future of beagles than are breeders, and they exert efforts to ensure their dogs are not going to find themselves in another rescue situation. Rescued Beagles are not intended for any breeding program, and rescue clubs accept the responsibility for spaying/neutering dogs.

Beagles often suffer from infectious and viral diseases, which commonly develop into respiratory and intestinal disorders. Distemper, Leptospirosis, Corona and Parvo are viral diseases, which affect the intestinal tract and trigger severe digestion malfunctions, which can result in dehydration and early death.
Respiratory diseases, such as Parainfluenza, Infectuous Tracheobronchitis and so called 'Kennel Cough' are highly contagious, and cause serious respiratory problems, such as Tonsillitis, Pharyngitis, Bronchitis and Pneumonia. These are viral diseases, and it is easier to prevent them than to treat. Therefore, you should consult your local veterinarian on the subject of vaccination.
Beagles can also be susceptible to hereditary illnesses, such as dwarfism (distorted front legs), spinal problems, epilepsy, heart and eye problems.
