Beagle Puppy

If you would like to purchase a Beagle Puppy, please, prepare yourself for a number of difficulties. Beagles are willful and stubborn dogs, and they are hard to handle for novice dog owners. Many people tend to underestimate this, because Beagles are renowned for their lovely appearance and easy-going temperament.

Beagles are not very large. They have much in common with Foxhounds, their close relatives, but they are smaller in size. Beagles measure 13-15 inches high at the withers. However, there are two AKC Beagle types, varying according to wither height: dogs with shoulder height not exceeding 13 inches, and Beagles with shoulder height not exceeding 15 inches. Many untrustworthy breeders claim to have so called Pocked Beagles allegedly related to the “Glove Beagle” of the old days. In fact, these small dogs are not recognized by any breed club, because of their unhealthy genetic potential. Therefore, if you come across a breeder offering you a “rare” Beagle Puppy from the times of Elizabeth I, look elsewhere.

Beagles have a medium-length coat, which is very easy to groom. Then coat occurs in various hound-type color combinations, including tri-colors and bi-colors, as well as mottle blue, bluetick, etc. Beagles have long hanging ears and a long upright tail with a white tip. Beagles have compact yet sturdy limbs, and are physically fit enough to cover long distances. Beagle Puppies are very good at learning new things, as they enjoy training sessions, providing they are organized properly.

Beagles are very easy-going and communicative. They thrive on interaction, and tend to get on well with other dogs. Beagles are relatively tolerant of non-canine pets, and they like to spend their time playing with children. Beagles are very active by nature, and they appreciate daily exercise in the yard. These dogs require a fenced yard, which can prevent escape. Because their sense of smell is so strong and keen that they can barely resist the temptation to follow along a track, beagles should not be trusted to roam without a leash. In order to reduce the risk of escape, every beagle Puppy must be obedience trained in such a way as to learn to respond to commands.
